How to Start a Fire in your Garage....
liguid on a shelf above it. Have someone accidentally spill some liquid into the open container........
HEAR...the explosion, the fire trucks, the ambulance ?
MUST BE HANDLED AND STORED IN A SAFE MANNER.
All chemicals should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
(Try to find one in Houston.)
HERE ARE SOME IDEAS:
1. Store your algaecides I in the garage or laundry room.
2. Definitely store your test kit in the house.
3. Buy muriatic acid by the case and store it in your DE in the a garage on the floor.
4. Buy 3 or 4 inexpensive plastic garbage cans with lids and put a them outside by your equipment. Put the entire container of sticks a or tabs in one; your shock in another and possibly your acid, DE a and algaecide in others.
DO NOT PUT MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF CHEMICAL IN EACH CONTAINER
potency with age.
We feel buying bulk calcium hypochlorite (shock) is not economical. Although it is a few cents less per pound initially, it loses some of its strength as soon as the container is opened. Also, we all tend to use more than necessary because the scoop is large. And remember, it’s dangerous when moisture enters the container. The one-pound packages are pre-measured and sealed to reduce the corrosion and retain their effectiveness.
Remember, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER put granular
chlorine in a skimmer or in line chlorinator.
When is the next time we will pick up the paper and see where another child has drowned because of inadequate supervision and layers of safety?
A few years ago, my wife and I came home to find a 3 year old boy standing at the end of our diving board! We were panic stricken! Fortunately, my wife recognized him, walked calmly over and got him by the hand. He was just out playing, supposedly watched by his 8 year old brother.
I know his mother should have been watching him and YOU know his mother, older sibling or baby-sitter should have
been watching him; but there were not. I know he shouldn't have been in my backyard, but that's not the point – He was there!
My gate wasn't closed tightly – it's old like me and doesn't work very well. I should have had it fixed, but I didn't. How could I be so inconsiderate of my neighbors?
We have 7 pools on our block. It is easy to assume that with so many pools available, everyone has cautioned their children about them. I'm afraid many of us have forgotten normal safety precautions.
